Sitting through the class was like sitting in the middle of the desert while a sandstorm blew all around you, the sun a steady 118 degrees with zero moisture… seriously dry and boring!
The class was statistics.
I’m actually not sure if it was the teacher or the topic that contributed to the difficulty 95% of the students had in staying engaged.
I say this because in high school I took a equally boring class in biology, so much so that I ended up not passing and to my utter horror ended up having to repeat it during summer school. The contrast between teachers however, made all the difference. I absolutely loved the summer school class. Same subject, same content, but taught in an entirely fun and enjoyable way. I aced it by the way.
In high school I didn’t really care about grades, probably because I had entrepreneurial parents who didn’t buy into the dogma that traditional school was the gateway to achieving success as an adult.
But when I committed to completing my MBA after several years of marriage and a kid and a half later (I was pregnant with #2) all that changed. I didn’t have scholarships or parents in a position to pay for my education so I wasn’t going to settle for anything less than an A. I was going all in!
I set the intention, focused on the end-game and did what I needed to do to make it happen. Six years later, with only a few classes left to go and child number 3 on the way, I knew I was going to graduate with a 4.0. I had done it!
My third child was born 7 days before the last day of my statistics class and it was a requirement and a big chunk of the grade to give a final group presentation. There was no rescheduling, family time-off, or personal situational consideration. You presented or you got stuck with a less than stellar grade – um…. ya… not an option!
So there I was holding a 7 day old baby (we won’t get into why I had to bring her along – trust me it wasn’t my first choice) in front of the class trying to give a statistical presentation. It started off fine but anyone who’s had a newborn knows, they seem to have not-so-perfect timing. After the crying started…. it was all over. I wasn’t going to impress anyone with my numbers, let alone the teacher.
I excused myself and went into the ladies bathroom to nurse. If it wasn’t for the fact that a room full of my peers watched me walk out and was probably waiting for my return entrance, I would have been crying right along side my infant inside the cramped stall.
When my final grades came in I wasn’t surprised but more hurt. I would have thought for sure the teacher would have given me sympathy points or tenacity points for even showing up knowing I had just given birth. After six years of A’s I got my first B+. I freaked!
Getting over perfectionism is something I have to be mindful of to this day. I see this same type of perfectionism in my clients and how it holds entrepreneurs back from showing up as their most authentic self. Somewhere along the journey, we’ve picked up that we have to be perfect. For me it was a lot of little things that added up to one biggie. For you it might be one prominent memory, comment or situation.
But left unchecked, perfectionism can kill the most badass business idea – it literally happens every minute of every day. It’s one of the 24 business blocks we focus on clearing inside the Business Blockbuster Bootcamp™.
If you’ve got perfection paralysis, check out the course Business Blockbuster Bootcamp™. Inside the course we focus on clearing 24 of the most common business blocks that keep entrepreneurs stuck in self-sabotage.

Your scrolling through your feed and there it is. Staring right back at you almost mocking how much farther she is in her business.
It’s another post from someone you follow regularly having yet another success. WTF… seriously… how is it that “she” is having so much success and I’m not.
It seems like I’ve been trying to make my business pay off forever and I just can’t seem to get traction to actually move my business forward and make some real money.
Let me start by saying that you’re not alone.
A million and a half times a day, someone, somewhere is feeling the exact same way. Comparison is very real, and so is the damage it leaves in it’s wake when we allow it to overtake our hearts desires.
What you don’t see is the years of learning, costly mistakes, blood, sweat and tears that got her to where she is. You are seeing the now but the truth is there is a whole other back story that would probably shock you.
The difference between her and you is that she kept going. Despite everything, she didn’t give up. She continued to learn, grow, shift her focus and get better every day which ultimately lead to her success, the success you’ve become envious of.
It’s the confusing messy journey that becomes the foundation of almost every successful entrepreneur because in the depths of frustration, confusion becomes clarity, fear becomes fuel and procrastination becomes inspired action.
Lie #1. Follow a set of rules or guidelines
Fact: Every entrepreneur has a different road to success that is 100% dictated by what they believe to be true. It is their vibrational equivalent that dictates success.
Lie #2. You have to hustle
Fact: This is only true if that’s what you believe it to be. Otherwise, it can be fun and easy. Again, it comes down to what you believe. You can run a flow business that is entirely dictated by inspired action – doing things not because you have to, but because you are inspired to.
Lie #3. Instant success
Fact: Every successful entrepreneur started out knowing nothing they just kept going.
Don’t give up on your dreams just because someone else is farther along than you. You have just as much as a gift/service to share with the world – the only difference is, you’re getting in your own way. Time to Bust through those self-sabotaging blocks and do what you were put here to do.
p.s. If your not sure how to move past your blocks, or even how to identify what they are, here’s a helpful quiz (come back for the link – quiz will be posted soon)
p.s.s. If you’re not addressing your business blocks, you’ll keep finding ways to sabotage your business success without even realizing it
Let’s talk about a totally un-sexy subject, but one that made all the difference for me from day one.
A bit of background, I’m 47 soon to be 48 going through menopause. Even though I’m an energy practitioner with years of experience, know all about self-healing, self-care, energy work, meditation…blah…blah…blah….
Over the last couple of years it’s been extremely difficult to manage my weight. Let’s face it, our bodies change over time and menopause for women can be one of the worst times when it comes to managing weight and mood.
I remember when I’d be sitting on the couch talking to my mom, then from literally outa no where, her whole mood dramatically shifted to that of anxiety. I could tell something had been “triggered” and for a while I didn’t really get it.
It didn’t take long before I started associating her change in mood with the beads of sweat dripping down her face followed by the heavy breathing, almost like she was trying to put out the fire her body was building in her gut through labored breathing. The hotter the fire the heavier and more labored the breathing.
I knew what came next. “It’s so hot in here, you’ve got to turn down the air.” The panic, anxiety and sweat would last about 10-15 minutes. Then, as if someone flipped a switch, all would be well.
My mom tried to warn me of how horrible hot-flashes were. But I would have never imagined how bad, until I began to experience them myself.
My journey through how I’m managing menopause through holistic methods is a another story. For now, I’d like to share with you a different kinda story but still related. The un-sexy way I’ve found to detox. Prepare yourself, because I’m talking about the dreaded E word.
Yep, the Enema…. told you it wasn’t sexy.
I first read about the benefits of doing regular home enemas something like 10 years ago. But like most, I was totally resistant until now. Boy, talk about a later adopter 🙂
Part of it was pure laziness. It just sounded like a lot of work when I could have just as easily taken a detox pill. Which is what I typically did when doing a body detox. I’d rely on holistic liver, colon, kidney, etc. cleanses via pill form.
Lots of reasons contributed to my leap of faith but I would say the most significant is directly connected to my hot-flashes and weight management. I started feeling bloated and toxic and the typically remedies from years past just simply were not working. Even with a healthy diet, my body just stopped responding. Like a 2-year-old temper tantrum, my body was going kicking and screaming down every path I chose.
I decided to get serious and go deeper into what was causing my body to rebel. After all, we’d been pretty good allies up until this point. When I treated it right, it would reward me. I’d feel better, have more energy, sleep better and my mood was pretty stable.
When I treated it badly… look out… because karma was going to pay me a visit 😉
During my research of body detox options, I rediscovered enemas. My personal presumption was that my body was not able to absorb the nutrients I was putting in, due to dirty plumbing and years of never going in with a scrubber to clear that shit out (literally).
All these years, I had been going about a detox backwards. Trying to detox from the wrong end. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure a lot of what I was doing helped. But I’m also sure that a lot of what I was doing was making matters worse.
By detoxing one way, I was compounding the toxins.
It all made sense… finally!
I was ready to approach my detox from a new angle. What did I have to loose after all, I’d tried everything else.
Thinking I could easily find a basic enema kit locally, you know the red plastic one that comes to mind whenever someone mentions the word. After making several calls, it became apparent, this was not at item typically sold in stores anymore. I had to settle for a one time use plastic bottle pre-mixed option found in most drugstores.
It worked okay but I knew nothing would be better for my body than plain water. Next thing you know, I’m searching through Amazon looking for just the right kit. Not even sure if there was such a thing.
Totally convinced the traditional red bag was exactly what I needed until….
I stumbled across a product that excited me about as much as the thought of sticking a water hose up my butt could excite a person. #I was elated 🙂
Thanks to Amazon Prime, the product arrived promptly and although I did have some reservations, I was also ready to try something new to get my body back into some sort of balance.
We’ll skip the tutorial, if needed do a quick search on google or youtube.
Fast forward 3 days later….My results were nothing short of AMAZing. I ended up doing two enemas the first day, two the second day and one on day 3 (no you don’t need to do this many, I was feeling so toxic and out of balance, I did what felt right for me). I felt like years of neglected cleaning had finally been accomplished. My bloat was gone, I felt great and most importantly didn’t feel toxic anymore. The 3 lb. weight loss after being stalled for months… hello bonus!
I had become a food hoarder and didn’t even realize it, collecting who knows what over the years, and never stopping to do a proper cleans and purge.
If you’ve ever seen the popular TLC show (Hoarders), you’ve no doubt stayed to see the pay off. When all the toxic crap gets removed and what’s left is a livable environment.
That’s exactly the way my body feels. I have cleared out the toxins and made room for a livable environment. One I can manage and maintain on a regular basis.
I love the way I feel so much, that I plan on scheduling in a weekly enema. That’s right… just like scheduling the day I water my house plants, I’ll be adding a weekly enema to my calendar. Maybe I’ll use the acronym WE to keep it a bit more discrete 🙂
If you’re interested in the kit that I absolutely love, recommend and use myself. A kit that makes self enemas super easy and ensures it’s the most beneficial and safe for your body because its made from stainless steel, you can check it out here.Non-Toxic Stainless Steel Enema Bucket
If you have any questions, I’d be more than happy to answer. You only have one body, learn from someone who was on the fence for years – just do it! Your body with thank you.
PS. if you into the woo woo like me, you can set your intention, then after filling up the bucket with water, run energy through it. Talk about major benefits. Your working with the physical and the energetic parts of your body…b/c we all know we have both 🙂
PSS. if you’re not sure how to run energy, just set your intention.
If you’re mind and body’s not right your business never will be. You need to be focused on creating a thriving environment for all three.

It’s not often I share my dreams with others. They’re personal, validating, inspiring and sometimes down right cruel in their messaging. Cruel, but needed nonetheless. But no matter how they show up or what message I’m meant to receive, it’s always…without fail, exactly what I need to hear.
It’s rare I have the kind of dream that exposes the messaging in a way a kindergartner would understand it. No, that’s not my guides, higher self, universe, or whoever is at the helm shouting out commands likes to give it to me. I’m blessed with the task of reading between the lines, meditating for meaning, pondering for purpose… basically I’ve got to figure it out… whatever “it” is.
I say blessed because it forces me to stop and pause. Clearly someone or something is making their presence known and it’s an important enough message that “they” took the time to interrupt me in my blissful slumber hoping to sneak in some intervention and wisdom when the competition for brain space is at it’s weakest.
Last night was no exception.
The dream: I was in an elevator with one other female. We were both without clothes and it was okay (it wasn’t shameful or bad). We were just having a light conversation when the doors opened to one of the floors and a well-dressed gentleman that seemed to be in his 30s walked in. As the doors closed and the elevator began to rise, the gentleman looked at me and said, “you will make it to the executive level.” He then turned his attention to my elevator companion and said, “you will make it to the top.”
Stunned by this strangers message, I asked a simple question and got a simple yet profound answer.
My question…”We’re both talented, showing up authentic (I gathered this was the reason for the nakedness), driven, passionate, purposeful, etc., why do you believe she will make it to the top and I will only reach the executive level?”
His answer stunned and delighted me at the same time. “Because she is going for gold and you are not.”
I never dreamed of going for gold. Until this prolific dream, I knew I was doing the work, showing up, learning, growing, giving back, etc. But until that moment with all my “effort” it hadn’t even occurred to me that I had been playing as a participant with the possibility of winning bronze or silver and most certainly was not showing up as a gold medalist.
The question I’ll leave you with is this… are you showing up as a spectator, participant or are you going for gold?
P.S. The rest of my story will be shared in my upcoming book. I hope you’ll join me in continuing the journey and the conversation when it’s released.
